Seasons of Life in Taiwan- Holiday & Festival Calendar
Due to its special geographical location and historical development multiple cultures coexist and merge in Taiwan: Indigenous ceremonies Hakka Han Chinese Minnan culture Western emerging four solar terms and traditional festivals as well as life etiquette inhabitants of this land all generously embrace them. Different kinds of traditional or innovative festivals embellish fun and colorful life calendar.

Taipei Walker
Meet old Taipei around the corner!

Taipei Historical Maps collect ancient maps and old photos published between 1895 and 1961. Using Google Maps with Street View along with positioning function they can instantly show the changes of an area.

 

Taipei Historical Maps

Center for GIS Academia Sinica provides 6 different periods of Taipei street maps featuring the center of Taipei city Monga and Dadaocheng. Institute of Taiwan History Academia Sinica Japan’s National Diet Library and Sunnygate Phototimes also provide 131 old photos.

The Academia Sinica Digital Archives Program is committed to opening all kinds of research resources to the public; in order to deepen and expand these digital resources the Digital Archives Program has initiated a long-term plan entitled “Academia Sinica Cloud Museum” (http://digiarch.sinica.edu.tw/digitalmuseum). Two pavilions "National Treasure Museum" and "Malacofauna Museum of Taiwan" have now been completed.

 

The "National Treasure Museum" features seven classic collections from the Institute of History and Philology: and . You can now discover and enjoy these national treasures in Academia Sinica more easily through simple explanations fun animations and related databases.

 

Academia Sinica Cloud Museum

 

The "Malacofauna Museum of Taiwan" integrates the Biodiversity Research Center’s “Taiwan Malacofauna Database Project” digitization results. Through popular science demonstrations multimedia presentations and related database links you can now learn and experience shells from the past present and future via a rich and multifaceted body of knowledge.

Taiwan Encyclopedia of Life TaiEOL

The goal of the Taiwan Encyclopedia of Life (TaiEOL) project is to construct an authoritative and content-rich database create its free website and in the future exchange data with international institutions.

Exhibition of Cyber Island Taiwan

The content of the platform comprises impressions of the local cultural and natural landscape records of social events memories of the past depictions of everyday life and creative art pieces.
